BIG Core Values: Coachability

BIG core values: coachability blog

In today's fast-paced and ever-changing world, businesses must remain agile and adaptable to thrive. At Brannon Industrial Group, we understand that the key to success lies in our ability to embrace the concept of being "coachable." As a waste service company, a metal recycling company, a porta potty provider, and just a corporation of people in general, we have made it our mission to foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptation. Coachability is one of our six core values at BIG. We want to prove our commitment to this value by sharing key learnings and aspirations from our coachable business journey.

Our president, Blake Brannon, had a previous life as a professional baseball player, where coachability is non-negotiable. This is just one of the positive characteristics that Blake has leveraged in his leadership of BIG. In a recent company newsletter, Chad Lechler of BVR wrote, “Coachability goes beyond the surface-level definition of being receptive to coaching. It encompasses qualities such as accountability, the ability to learn from mistakes, humility, and relentlessness. These attributes serve as the building blocks of success, both on and off the field. By embodying coachability, individuals unlock their potential, continuously improve, and achieve their aspirations. So, whether it is in sports, academics, or professional pursuits, embracing coachability as a way of life paves the way for limitless possibilities and sets the stage for remarkable accomplishments.”

Here are a few ways that BIG is coachable…

1. Embracing Innovation:

In the waste and recycling industry, new technologies and practices emerge constantly. Being coachable means being open to embracing innovation. Whether optimizing our trash collection routes using advanced GPS systems, implementing innovative recycling solutions to reduce waste, or using cutting-edge sorting methods in our recycling facilities, we constantly seek to integrate new technologies and ideas to improve our efficiency and sustainability.

2. Learning from Customer Feedback:

Our customers' opinions are invaluable to us. Being coachable means actively listening to their feedback, suggestions, and concerns. We regularly collect customer reviews and testimonials to understand their needs better. By analyzing their input, we identify areas for improvement in our trash services, metal recycling processes, porta-potty offerings, and dumpster rental operations. This feedback loop helps us to exceed customer expectations.

3. Training and Development:

Investing in our team's knowledge and skills is a cornerstone of being a coachable corporation. We provide comprehensive training programs for our employees, equipping them with the latest industry insights and safety protocols. Our dedicated team members undergo continuous professional development, enabling them to remain at the forefront of best practices and advancements in waste management, recycling techniques, and sanitation services.

4. Adapting to Regulatory Changes:

In the waste and recycling industry, governmental regulations can change rapidly. We approach these changes as opportunities to learn and adapt. Being coachable means keeping a close eye on legislative updates and working closely with local authorities to ensure compliance. We can maintain our commitment to environmental responsibility while providing seamless customer service.

5. Learning from Industry Peers:

We understand that learning isn't confined to within our corporation. As a teachable entity, we actively participate in industry conferences, seminars, and trade shows. By networking and engaging with other waste management and recycling professionals, we gain valuable insights into industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. These connections foster collaboration, enhancing our ability to provide top-notch services across our diverse offerings.

At Brannon Industrial Group, our dedication to being teachable sets us apart as a dynamic and forward-thinking organization. By embracing continuous learning and adaptation, we ensure that our trash service, metal recycling, porta potty, and dumpster rental companies remain at the forefront of the waste and recycling industry. As we progress, we will continue to evolve, guided by our core value of being coachable, always striving for excellence in our services, and positively impacting the environment and communities we serve.
