This year, Earth Day is Saturday, April 22nd. Since this special day takes place on a weekend, we thought it might be fun to encourage families to come together and make a positive impact on the environment. Here are some easy ways for a family to celebrate Earth Day:
Plant a tree or start a garden:
Planting a tree or starting a garden is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and contribute to a more sustainable future. You can choose to plant a tree in your yard, a local park, or in a community garden. Starting a garden can also be a fun and rewarding way to grow your own food and reduce your carbon footprint. Did you know that our local collection centers in Brenham sells mulch by the ton? Once you’ve planted your young tree, grab some BVR mulch to finish the project off!
Reduce, reuse, and recycle:
Make a conscious effort to reduce your family's waste by practicing the 3 R's - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. You can start by using reusable bags, water bottles, and food containers, and by composting food scraps. If you haven’t already, we recommend signing up for our local recycling pick-up services. Clean up your neighborhood:
Take some time to clean up litter in your neighborhood or local park. This can help keep your community clean and reduce pollution in the environment. This Earth Day Brannon Industrial Group is excited to announce a fun and educational creative project to celebrate our great planet and all the ways that we can help protect it. In between now and Earth Day- Saturday April 22nd, we are encouraging the greater Brazos Valley to build a functional item, solely from recyclable materials. We’re calling it: Reuse Your Recyclables! Go for a hike or nature walk:
Take advantage of the warmer weather and spend some time in nature. Go for a hike or nature walk in a nearby park or nature reserve. You can also take a bike ride or explore a local trail to get some fresh air and exercise. Maybe you can even pack an eco-friendly picnic too! Instead of buying disposable plates, cups, and utensils, opt for reusable or biodegradable options for your family's Earth Day picnic.
